Introductory remarks by the Society’s Chairman, Dr William Oddie
William Oddie is the author of a number of books, including The Roman Option and Chesterton and the Romance of Orthodoxy, and is editor of The Holiness of GK Chesterton (based on the Society’s 2009 conference). As an Anglican, he was chaplain to post-graduate students in Oxford University. He has been a regular contributor to a number of newspapers, including The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Times and The Daily Mail. He is a former Fellow of St Cross College, Oxford and was for five years Editor of The Catholic Herald.10. 20 am
Lynette Burrows:
The Prophetic Vision of GK Chesterton
Lynette Burrows, a longstanding authority on GK Chesterton (she has delivered the Chesterton lecture) who is the author (she is a mother of six) of a number of books on family policy and the threat to the family, notably Good Children which went into three continuously updated editions since it was published 20 years ago and the hard-hitting The Fight for the Family (published also in Swedish and soon in Russian), which describes the onslaught on the autonomy of the family by outside agencies, including government.

Ian Ker:
Chesterton and the Person of Christ
Fr Ian Ker teaches theology at Oxford University and is also a Parish Priest. He is the leading authority on the thought and writings of John Henry Newman, on whom he has written over 20 books, including his definitive biography: this has now been followed by a definitive biography of Chesterton, who he sees as Newman’s successor. He is the author of The Catholic Revival in English Literature (1845-1961) and Mere Catholicism, an explanation in easily accessible, non-technical language of the fundamental doctrines of the Catholic Church.

Dale Ahlquist:
Chesterton as Prophet of the Future
Dale Ahlquist is the president and co-founder of the American Chesterton Society. He is the creator and host of the Eternal Word Television Network series, "G.K. Chesterton: The Apostle of Common Sense" He is the author of a number of books on Chesterton, including G.K. Chesterton: Apostle of Common Sense, Common Sense 101: Lessons From G.K. Chesterton and The Chesterton University Student Handbook and is the editor of The Gift of Wonder: The Many Sides of G.K. Chesterton. He is the publisher of Gilbert Magazine, and associate editor of the Ignatius Press Collected Works of G.K. Chesterton. He has lectured widely on Chesterton throughout the United States.
